Accessibility
Our goal
StatsDrill aims to meet WCAG 2.1 level AA on phones, tablets and laptops, in both the light and the dark theme. We test with keyboard-only use, VoiceOver and automated checks at 390 px and 1440 px before each release.
What is in place
- Every control is a real button or link with an accessible name; answer choices announce their letter and their full text, never just "Option A".
- Full keyboard support: Tab reaches every control, dialogs trap focus and close with Escape, and focus returns to the control that opened them. After you answer, focus stays on your pick; Next moves focus to the next question's heading. Feedback is announced through a polite live region.
- Touch targets are at least 44 px tall and text inputs are at least 16 px, so phones do not zoom unexpectedly.
- Colour contrast meets AA in both themes; states are shown with colour and text, not opacity alone.
- Reduced motion: when your system asks for less motion, animations (the welcome screen, the activities showcase, card swipes) show static states instead.
- Light, dark and automatic themes, chosen from the toggle on every screen and remembered on your device.
- Interactive activities and the landing demo can be completed with the keyboard: Tab to a region or value, then Enter.
Known limitations
- Printable cheat sheets open in a reader with selectable text; the download is a plain HTML file rather than a tagged PDF.
- Software-output panels in activities are presented as preformatted text, which screen readers read line by line.
